# Build with agents

> Choose how to use Floorkit with a coding agent or build an agent that generates and edits building data inside your app.

Floorkit is a Ploterr product powered by OpenGeometry. People and agents can work with the same saved building data. Your app supplies the AI model and the user interface.

Choose the path that matches your task.

## Give a coding agent the docs

The [coding-agent guide](/floorkit/agents/use-a-coding-agent) connects the public package, documentation index, Markdown pages, examples, and installed API declarations. The SDK source repository is not required.

For an app that compares building options on a parcel, use the [Site massing playbook](/floorkit/playbooks/site-massing). It includes a worked study, a copyable agent brief and the expected floor-area and zoning results.

Follow [documentation MCP setup](/floorkit/agents/use-a-coding-agent#connect-documentation-search-through-mcp) to search and retrieve the docs. The server does not edit a building.

<span id="a-starting-instruction-for-a-coding-agent" />

Copy the [starting instructions](/floorkit/agents/use-a-coding-agent#a-starting-instruction-for-a-coding-agent) and add your app requirements.

## Build an agent into your app

An agent proposes building JSON or a supported edit. Floorkit validates the data and builds the geometry. People then inspect, edit, undo, and save the same project.

Follow [Agent building workflow](/floorkit/agents/agent-building-workflow) for validation, stale proposals, commands, and saving. Your app handles inference and design requirements; Floorkit does not generate a floor plan from a prompt by itself.

## Choose the right package

Use **Floorkit** for building elements, architectural editors, saved projects, and sheets. Use the **[OpenGeometry kernel](https://docs.opengeometry.io/OpenGeometry/what-is-opengeometry)** for lower-level solid geometry in your own modelling system. Each package has its own API and license.

## Before you deploy

Local development and non-browser runs need no key. Every deployed hostname needs a valid Floorkit key, including a non-commercial demo. See [Licensing](/floorkit/licensing).

Choose other application routes in [What you can build](/floorkit/use-cases). Check [current exports](/floorkit/concepts/exports) before promising an output to your users.
