# Window types

> What each windowType builds in 3D and marks in elevation.

`windowType` chooses how a [`Window`](https://docs.ploterr.com/floorkit/api/architecture/window) builds and how an elevation marks it. A saved window with no `windowType` is a `CASEMENT`. The plan symbol is the same for every type.

The pictures show the elevation of a 1.20 × 1.20 m window. Mark lines meet at the hinge side. A sash opens to the right face of its wall, facing along the wall from its first point, so its marks are dashed when you look at the left face. `windowSashCount(windowType)` gives the number of sashes.

`FIXED`, `GLASS`, `WOOD` and `OTHER` build one fixed pane. They differ in name only.
