# Exports

> Take your design out of Floorkit in open formats.

Your designs are not locked in. Floorkit gives you files in open formats, and each one is for a different reader.

| Format | Status | Use it for |
| - | - | - |
| PDF | Available | Sheets that people read, print and sign |
| GLB | Available | The 3D model in viewers, game engines and AR |
| Project file | Available | Saving the design and opening it again |
| IFC | Comes in the next release | BIM tools |
| DXF | Comes in the next release | 2D CAD tools |

## PDF

A PDF contains your sheets as vector linework, one page for each sheet. See [Export a PDF](/floorkit/guides/export-a-pdf).

## GLB

A GLB contains the 3D model in one binary file. Floorkit makes standard Three.js objects, so you export them with the Three.js exporter. See [Export a GLB](/floorkit/guides/export-a-glb).

## Project file

The project file is JSON text. It holds the building model, the views and the sheets. It is the only format that Floorkit opens again for editing. See [Save and reopen](/floorkit/guides/save-and-reopen).

Because the file is typed JSON, your server can read it too. You can make a price list, an area report or a search index from it without a browser.

## IFC and DXF

IFC export for building models and DXF export for drawings come in the next release. See [IFC](/floorkit/api/exports/ifc) and [DXF](/floorkit/api/exports/dxf).

## Export the saved state

An export uses the building model that you give it. Before an export, put the current model of your session into the project:

```typescript theme={null}
import type { BuildingSession, ProjectFile } from '@opengeometry/floorkit';
export function currentProject(project: ProjectFile, session: BuildingSession): ProjectFile {
  return { ...project, buildingModel: session.snapshot() };
}
```

<Note>
  An exported file is a design document. Check it in your own workflow before you use it for a
  permit or for construction.
